Alex Rider je na videz povsem običajen najstnik, ki živi pri svojem stricu Ianu. Toda ko ga ubije zloglasni morilec, Alex spozna, da stric Ian ni bil zgolj dolgočasnen bankir, temveč izkušen tajni agent. Poleg tega je svojega nečaka od majhnih nog uril v raznih vohunskih tehnikah, ne da bi se tega Alex sploh zavedal. Tako je zdaj zrel za delo pravega agenta. Njegova prva misija je povezana z milijarderjem Darriusom Sayleom, ki je pred kratkim vsem šolam v državi podaril najnovejši računalnik imenovan Stormbreaker. Alex mora ugotoviti, ali se za radodarnostjo skrivajo pošteni nameni ali kaj veliko bolj mračnega.

Alex Rider thinks he is a normal school boy, until his uncle is killed. He discovers that his uncle was actually spy on a mission, when he was killed. Alex is recruited by Alan Blunt to continue the mission. He is sent to Cornwall to investigate a new computer system, which Darrius Sayle has created. He plans to give the new computer systems to every school in the country, but Mr. Blunt has other ideas and Alex must find out what it is.
