Brazilsko mesto Goiás je kraj, kjer se mlada Fernanda sooči s skrivnostmi o svoji preteklosti. Po smrti svoje krušne matere se vrne v hišo premožnega strica, da bi se znebila negotovosti in pustila boleči resnici o svojem poreklu privreti na dan. Na meji med resničnim in fantastičnim ter med kolonialnimi časi in vseprisotno modernostjo kmetijskega posla je mesto Goiás kraj, kjer se mlada Fernanda sooči s skrivnostmi o svoji preteklosti.
